At the end, we met with the Secondary principal and she told me that the elementary school was full with activities and they couldn't put another one on their agenda. We discussed this with many teachers but there was no way that it could be done.

Since we came back from school, we have been trying to contact Keiko in order to arrange the logistics of how we should approach the activity. I met with Tarek during advisory and extensively discussed how we should organise and who we needed to ask permission in order to make this project possible. We concluded that there were key persons that would allow us to coordinate and actually make the race. Highschool principal, elementary principal, elementary P.E. teacher, 2nd grade teachers, Keiko and Ms. Patiño. In the next few days we will try to arrange meetings with both principals to express our desire to make this project happen so that they can give us the actual "go" for the project.
Today we had our first meeting with Keiko which is the representative of "Carrera contra la Desnutricion". This project focuses on providing a better healthcare to unprivileged kids by creating a race in schools in which kids that are more privileged ask for sponsors that fund each lap with a certain amount of money. Then this money is used to improve the quality of food in rural places all along Peru. This is an impressive way to attract kids to raise money in order to help kids who have not the same opportunities as more privileged kids. Our goal along with 4 other students is to bring this fundraiser to Elementary school and impulse this to be a race that takes place a minimum of 1 race per semester. This meeting has been significantly rewarding because we have learned the purpose and the logistics that take part in this race. We are planning to have a meeting with the Elementary principal in order to coordinate better what could this activity look like. |
