During this past semesters I have formed part of Kantaya and Bridges. Having a huge workload with the IB, made me very stressed, and the only thing that allowed me to feel good about myself, was the service involved. Doing a greater good for society was definitely something fulfilling for myself.
This allowed me to work with people I knew, and also do things that would create a positive impact on society. When going to kantaya, we focused on teaching the ambitious kids, new things that would help them develop themselves better. Through games and workshops, we made the experience both fun and educational. This allowed to see how many kids wanted to learn lots of things but didn't have the resources to do so. During bridges, we focused on improving the infrastructure of the places in which unprivileged people lived. Focusing on San Juan de Lurigancho, and San Juan de Miraflores. By constructing well rounded stairs, we made a huge contribution to their "asentamiento" by facilitating the movilization for the people, especially the ones that lived on the highest places of the mountain. These two activities allowed me to appreciate more life as it is, since many people do not have the same opportunities as we do. We have to learn to appeciate the small things in life, and make the best contribution we possibly can to other people who really need it. |
